A blood drive held Tuesday, August 11th at Ionia County Memorial Hospital was a success!

18 first time blood donors were among the list of 38 that participated in the drive.  This was the first time the American Red Cross Mobile Bus was in Ionia and at Ionia County Memorial Hospital.  Most of the donors were ICMH associates.

"It was a very convenient way for our staff members to be able to donate." stated Laurie Tjalsma, Community Relations Director.  "The bus is really a stand alone blood drive.  We provided Registration in the hospital lobby and everything else was done on the bus."

A special thanks to the volunteers, Doris Cobb and Pearl McLeod, that helped in Registration.  Their time was really appreciated!

Volunteer blood donors are the main source of blood products for hospital patients.  One blood donation may help save the lives of up to three people.

Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs a blood transfusion.
