Offices in Portland and Ionia Receive 2007 Governor’s Award of Excellence
Award Honors Commitment to Excellence in the Ambulatory Care Setting
In early May, the Family Health Centers in Ionia and Portland, services of Ionia County Memorial Hospital, both received the prestigious 2007 Governor’s Award of Excellence for Improving Care in the Ambulatory Care Setting. The Governor presented this award in partnership with MPRO, Michigan’s Quality Improvement Organization (QIO). The award acknowledges excellence in health care quality and safety. The 2006 award marks the sixth year that the Governor and MPRO have honored physicians’ offices statewide.
“Recipients of this award are committed to providing Michigan citizens with high quality health care services,” said Governor Jennifer Granholm. The Governor added, “Together we will continue to improve the long term health of citizens by focusing on strategies to protect public health.”
The Governor’s Award is an annual award that recognizes small to medium sized primary care physician offices through Michigan for their work in the area of quality improvement. Furthermore, the award acknowledges physicians’ offices for embracing evidence-based medicine to improve care provided for their adult patients.
“As Michigan’s Quality Improvement Organization, MPRO is privileged to recognize physicians’ offices such as those in Ionia and Portland for embracing quality improvement initiatives,” said Colleen Cieszkowski, interim CEO and president of MPRO. “The Governor’s Award of Excellence is a seal of quality that denotes a commitment to excellence in the delivery of high quality care.”
“Our staff worked as a team to develop strategies to achieve notable improvement. Together, we are demonstrating that both the Family Health Centers Ionia and Portland are continuously working to improve the care we deliver to our patients,” stated Jane Emelander, Office Manager at the Tony Balice Clinic/Family Health Center Ionia. “Our efforts have been enhanced through our alliance with MPRO and we are proud to be a recipient of this distinguished honor,” said Chrissy Dennis, Office Manager at the Family Health Center in Portland.
