ICMH HOME HEALTH CARE CELEBRATES NATIONAL HOME CARE MONTH

More than 11 million Americans receive home-delivered health care from home health care providers. In their honor, ICMH Home Care, a service of Ionia County Memorial Hospital, joins the National Association for Home Care & Hospice in celebrating November as National Home Care Month under the theme, “Preserving Health Independence and Freedom.”

"Caring for those that are recovering, disabled, or chronically ill in need of medical, nursing, social, or therapeutic treatment in their homes truly is a privilege for us," said Nikki Reed, RN, ICMH Home Care Director. "Home care professionals, volunteers and modern medicine make it possible for people to stay in their homes, regardless of their condition."

More and more older people are receiving home care services as their physical capabilities diminish. Younger adults who are disabled or recuperating from acute illness are choosing home care whenever possible. Chronically ill infants and children are receiving sophisticated medical treatment in their loving and secure home environments.  As hospital stays decrease, increasing numbers of patients need highly skilled services when they return home. Other patients not requiring hospitalization are able to stay at home to begin with, receiving safe and effective care in the comfort of their own homes.

Through technological advances, home-delivered health care has grown far beyond basic professional nursing and home care aide services. Today's modern home care agency offers a wealth of nursing, physical, occupational, respiratory and speech therapies, counseling, dietary, laboratory, podiatry, medical equipment and home medical supplies, and personal care.

Home care services are paid for by public and private sources, or directly by patients and their families. Despite massive cutbacks in government funding, home care continues to be the preferred means of receiving quality health care services for millions of Americans.

In 2007 ICMH Home Care was recognized as one of the top agencies in the nation.  They also received Michigan’s Quality Improvement Organization (QIO), prestigious 2007 Michigan Award of Excellence for Improving Care in the Home Health Setting.  ICMH Home Care received the accolade for the area of Immunizations.

ICMH Home Care is proud of their staff and the compassionate and professional care they provide for their patients. They have been in the community since 1994 and are the only home health care agency based in Ionia County.
