 Emergency Care

                  now just minutes away…

Ionia County residents now have access to the level of emergency services-expertise available at a level-one trauma center — without having to travel to Lansing or Grand Rapids.

Through a partnership between Ionia County Memorial Hospital (ICMH) and Lansing-based Sparrow Health System, a physicians group that staffs Sparrow Hospital’s advanced emergency department now also provides care at ICMH’s emergency department.

The physicians providing care at ICMH’s emergency department belong to Emergency Medical Associates, PLLC (EMA), a group that formed in 1977. EMA provides services to the two emergency departments located in Lansing — Sparrow Hospital and St. Lawrence Hospital — and to Clinton Memorial Hospital in St. JohnsFor more information please see the press release.

Governor's Award of Excellence

Proudly, on October 29, 2008 we received the 2007 Governor’s Award for outstanding achievements in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.  This is the 5th year in a row that we have been presented this award.  In addition ICMH also received the Governor's Recognition of Excellence for being a top performer in Clinical Performance.   Ionia County Memorial Hospital was one of only 15 hospitals that were awarded this honor in the State by the Governor's Office.

For more information please see the press release.

Ionia County Memorial Hospital is a 25-bed critical access hospital accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.   Accreditation by Joint Commission is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that indicates we meet certain performance standards.  In the fall of 2006 we received our Gold Seal and 3 year certificate with Joint Commission.

Our Family Health Center's in Portland and Ionia also were awarded the Governor's Award of Excellence the  spring of 2007.

Again In December of 2007, our Home Care service, ICMH Home Care,  was named in the top 25% of home health agencies in the nation.  This is the second year in a row we have achieved this recognition.  Congratulations ICMH Home Care!  In 2006 ICMH Home Care also received the Governor's Award for Excellence.

ICMH is pleased to be a Tobacco-Free Environment as of January 1, 2008. Tobacco use of any kind is prohibited - both inside and outside on the property - by employees, patients and visitors.  Thank you for your support in this important initiative.

Ionia County Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in Ionia County (population of 60,000) and located between Lansing and Grand Rapids, off the 1-96 corridor.  A full range of clinical services, including many innovative programs generally found only in large urban hospitals are available to everyone in this rural community.  We have a management affiliation with Sparrow Health in Lansing.

ICMH has been providing high quality, compassionate care for over 60 years.  We are continually building today for a better tomorrow.
